Rear-ended! And another weekend of teaching...

On my way to my obstetrics and gynecology exam today, I was rear-ended at an intersection. I had stopped at a red light and was going to turn right, but because a car was coming, I yielded. The person behind me obviously wasn't paying attention, and her car ended up colliding into mine.

In spite of the impact, there turned out to be no superficial damage to either of our cars, to both of our surprise! I'm of course getting my car looked at to make sure there's no hidden damage, but hopefully everything's fine, since I don't want to be hassled by this matter. I was lucky that I like to leave so early before exams, or else I wouldn't have made it on time for my final.

I'm quite glad that O&G is over. I found that the worst patients on the rotation were the incredibly obese patients, who somehow manage to get laid more than I do in spite of their excessive padding. These patients, though, are incredibly difficult to deal with in terms of recovery time and when complications arise. There was one night when I was on call and a very obese patient needed an emergency C-section. We struggled in that case to get everything done properly!

On the same night, there was another patient who was even larger and whose fetus was presenting foot-first and had her water break. Luckily she wasn't having contractions and had an elective C-section booked that morning; but until then, we prayed that she wouldn't go into labour, because she was definitely not the patient you want to deal with in the evening with so little staff!

Anyways, I'm spending my weekend teaching MCAT once again, although this time I'm kind of winging things. We'll see how that goes, but the students don't seem to notice the difference. I think they believe that because I'm a third year medical student, I *must* know all of the answers. If they only knew...:P
