Some not so brilliant moments...

I think I must have parked my brain onto the highway yesterday and got it run over several times, because I had a few moments that I'm looking at today and thinking how the hell I managed to get through the day:

Moment 1:

I'm at the hospital delivering babies, and my staff member tells me to milk out the umbilical cord before I put on a clamp and cut it. I guess I didn't do a great job, because when I cut the cord, blood sprayed out and hit the patient's mother on her white shirt that she had been planning to wear to graduation (her mom was young and was going to convocation when she found out her daughter was in labour). Thank god the mom's response was "oh, this will be a momento of the birth of my grandchild" and not "you little snot, be more careful".

Moment 2:

I met some old classmates for dessert, and when the bill comes, for the life of me, I can't figure out what 15% of $10 is. And my stupidity didn't even clue in until this morning! Can you believe I actually won top math honours in high school? :P

Man, sometimes I wonder why evolution hasn't kicked in yet and made short work of me...
